The world of supplements is like the wild west, there is not much regulation or control. It is hard to say what you’re getting is what it says on the bottle, let alone if the derivative of the product is best for you. The purpose of supplementation is to restore balance, or homeostasis, within the body. Supplementation is not meant to replace functionality in the body but to restore functionality.
Prescriptions vs. Supplements
One thing we tell patients is that there is always a time and place for both prescriptions and supplements. It is about finding the appropriate response. We never stop prescriptions cold turkey it is important that the body learns to support itself first before any changes to protocols are changed.
With supplementation, we rely heavily on diagnostics to best serve our patients. The diagnostics tell us exactly what is going on in the body that we need to support. Even with that, there are many variations of derivatives and concentrations between supplements. Our functional health coaches use biofeedback to determine the best option for you and at what dosage.
Vitamins & Minerals
Vitamins and minerals are isolations of a particular vitamin or mineral i.e.; Copper, Zinc, Vitamin C, and such. This is appropriate for specific deficiencies or imbalances found in particular diagnostics.
Vitamins are organic substances which means plants or animals make them. Minerals are inorganic elements that come from soil and water. They are what’s considered essential nutrients because they perform hundreds of functions within the body.
Herbs are duratives of a plant itself, from the earliest of times there have been records of herbals assisting in the healing process. Over the centuries different cultures have developed their own unique blends and approaches to herbals. Our bodies are made to absorb and utilize plants over the chemicals utilized in modern medicine. There is a time and place of course but up until 70 years ago, herbals are what the human race has always used.
Everything in our world operates on a cellular vibrational frequency, from the chair you’re sitting on, to the clouds in the sky, to the music you listen to. Homeopathy focuses on the vibration of the patient, when there is a disease process or an imbalance the body is designed to push itself back into balance (homeostasis). When the body is not able to do that is where we utilize homeopathy, by assisting the body and giving it the nudge it needs with our homeopathic treatment, we can see the body heal itself.
